I assume it's when you toss bait in and it ripples. In this case, we're the bait.

[Though Zeke watches the water with a frown, and then carefully sloshes a little more with one foot. Not anything dramatic, just another attempt to watch the ripple spread. Last time they'd spotted the odd distortion in the water's movement left by invisible doors, after all.]

[If she's honest, Sam's surprised it translated so well, but either way, she'll explain it.]

Half like that. [She nods to Zeke, then.] The other half is when you've got live bait, like a minnow or something, and it thrashes so it's rippling to attract a big fish.

We're trying to attract a big fish. [Or, that's what it feels like to Sam, at least. Though here, it's a bit more ominous than it was back when she was fishing with her old man.]

[his ears are just pressing themselves to the top of his head, giving away Tycoon's honest feelings about this, even as he stammers a noise of understanding out. You know, he was really hoping it wasn't what it sounded like!

But if they're meant to be bait...]

Do you think any sort of attack will cause the doors to appear? If electricity is too flashy, maybe just small projectiles will work?

Well, first, I was able to tell where one was before I went after it. Despite being me, I didn't just go blindly blasting away. Second, I'm not sure we WANT to make the doors appear if we can learn anything without doing that. Disturbing them seemed to be what got the big ugly thing going.

But might our presence here not do that too?

[Why does it always have to be big ugly things? Oh right. Dreams and human subconscious. Yeah, that'd do it.]

Isn't it just a big lake without the doors, though? A shallow one, but...

[Sam can't really help but shrug and look blank, here. Mostly because if there's something else to find, outside of the doors themselves, she is not catching on to it...]

... [a thoughtful nod] But standing around isn't going to do anything, right? Should we look around? Or...

[his attention turns back to the ripples]

Maybe it'll be easier to notice something with bigger ripples?

[really close to tempting fate here, as he lowers his weapon just enough that the tip of his blade is submerged in the water. It'd be easy to swing and create a large splash]

More like a lake with invisible doors. Wouldn't have even known to look if the water didn't offer some hints. But we didn't exactly get to explore much.

[Let alone open a door and go into it. Whether or not that is safe or advisable is an entirely separate question...]

We're gonna have to be a little more dramatic. Go for it, I say.
